The Directorate of Foot and Mouth Disease (DFMD) of Indian Council of Agricultural Research is a premier institute of India for research on Foot and Mouth Disease in livestock. The institute is handling Foot and Mouth Disease suspected clinical samples collected from FMD susceptible population in the country and providing timely diagnosis. Institute is conducting basic and applied research on FMD virus and also providing technical support to National Animal Disease Control Programme launched by GoI. The Sophisticated Analytical Instrument Facility (SAIF) of DFMD offers support of major analytical instruments which are operated and maintained by a dedicated and qualified group of scientists, technical officers and Engineers. It operates with an "open access policy", benefiting various stake holders and users (different research and education institutes/universities) who are in need of such facilities for their advanced research with nominal charges.
